Supporting Authors, Artisans, and Small Business Peeps

As Small Business Saturday draws closer (November 25, 2023), I just want to take a minute to remind everyone that buying items created by local artisans (books, crafts, experiences, vintage, or repurposed) is the same as supporting small businesses.

The same applies to services as well. Some of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with have been as close as “a few states away” or as far away as “across the pond.”

Small businesses are the lifeblood of our country, and we all need to be mindful of shifting our precious hard-earned dollars away from Big Box Stores and the small businesses that you can physically visit or ones that only exist online. The defining trait of small businesses is that are owned and operated by an individual person (or a small group) as opposed to a large corporate conglomerate. Small businesses create local jobs and pay local taxes, which keeps money circulating within communities.

It’s easy to support entrepreneurs and independently-owned businesses as well. To discover your locally owned resources or solopreneurs that can help you, join a business networking group, ask your local Chamber of Commerce, or simply ask a friend whom they would recommend.

Though I prefer face-to-face buying opportunities, I also recognize that the online world is here to stay. All of the past and present Audrey Press Team Members are independent contractors who live all over the globe. Thanks to the connectivity and ease of the internet, meetings and planning sessions are like sitting across the desk from your team even though they are miles away.

All of the books in the Audrey Press catalog were written by authors who are operating as small businesses as well. Some have gone on to write more books and even start additional small businesses!

My most recently book Thrive: Living a Self-Healed Life came to be with the help of an amazing book coach, editor and formatter, and a small army of beta readers and reviewers. All working as independent businesses and doing so very successfully.

Audrey Press is also considered a small business, and as the founder and CEO, I want everyone to know that we appreciate your business!

Every time you purchase a book from us, you support my mission of putting beautiful and quality books into readers’ hands and helping me keep my circle of small business friends busy and prosperous. If you would like to view our books, you can go here.

We appreciate you!
