Noreen Wenjen Bio:
Noreen Wenjen displayed a love of music and an interest in business and teaching at an early age. She began performing in piano competitions at age five and talked her playdates out of playing with Barbies and into playing “office” and “school” instead. She performed competitively for twenty years and received top prizes in international piano competitions. Her family tree of piano teachers can be traced back to Beethoven Liszt, Bach, and Chopin. Her piano teachers include Joanna Hodges, Peter Yazbeck, Dr. Stewart Gordon, Nancy Rohr, and Jim McCormick.
A self-proclaimed “accidental piano teacher”, she entered college with plans on studying business and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Currently, Wenjen is the President of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT), is the MTNA Chair for China certification, is the Chair for the MTNA State Presidents’ Advisory Council, and serves on the Editorial Committee member for their national magazine. She also has created a wildly successful in-person and online piano lesson business from her studios in California that has students lining up for her expertise. When not engaged in music, she can be found playing tennis, cooking up a storm, or surfing with her husband and two children.
