Meet The Team Tuesday!: Caley Walsh from PixelPerfect Design Studio

From Valarie: Tuesdays are for sharing and I’m so happy to be sharing our team with you. Lately I’ve been receiving so many emails and comments on all of the blogs wondering how I get it all done. The answer to that question is that I have the most incredible people who make up the Audrey Press team. Without them nothing would get done. With them, every idea in my head is a possibility. All of us work virtually online and freelance. We live all over the world and every day is filled with fun creations. Without further ado, I present to you the doers, dreamers, and wizards of Audrey Press. This week we are “meeting” the ever-delightful Caley Walsh from PixelPerfect Design Studio. I\’ll let Becky do the honors on interviewing this talented and hardworking lady. Welcome Caley!

Becky: Tell us a little about yourself Caley. How long have you been a business owner?

Caley: I\’ve been working from home roughly 8 years, but I have about 12 years experience. Design is my passion. The development side is what I am good at. I love to read and learn all the constant changes and improvements in the graphic web design industry. I am completely self-taught, and I am very proud of that fact!  My skills include Graphic and Web Design, Custom Website and WordPress Blogsite Creation and Maintenance services.

Becky: What\’s a typical workday look like to you?

Caley: I am at my desk working 9-5, 5 days a week working on various projects. I am very adamant about sticking to my “office hours.” Weekends are reserved for family time and my clients know that going in.

Becky: What made you decide to shift from working out-of-the-home to working from home?

Caley: I had a great job, but the commute was long. An hour just one way. When I was pregnant with my second child I came to the realization that I just couldn\’t be away from 2 kids as much as I had been away from my first child (daughter Maesynne). I was blessed with having my Mom living with us, but it was important to me to be there for my kids more than just a few hours a day.

Becky: The “Season of Parenthood” is soooo important. And goes so fast! What two pieces of advice would you give to moms/women/parents who are, or who want to be, working from home?

Caley: I would say the main thing is “stick with it.” Don\’t give up when the going gets tough, but be open-minded enough to evolve and grow with your business as well. The second piece of advice goes back to my previous comment about my clients knowing my hours. I think you need to set expectations in advance with clients. They need to know what to expect from you, and you need to know what to expect from them. Set boundaries and stick to them.

Becky: Awesome advice, Caley. I love asking people this question. If you had to describe yourself in 5 words, what would they be?

Caley: Wow, that\’s tough! OK, how about creative, fun, outgoing, personable, private.

Becky: Perfect! Let\’s go for a \”two-fer.\” In one sentence, describe your business.

Caley: That\’s easier! “Innovative web solutions for today\’s innovative businesses.”

Becky: One final question. Since Audrey Press is all about reading and books, what\’s the last book you read?

Caley: Pandora\’s Curse by Jack DuBrul. I love fiction 🙂

Becky: Thanks so much, Caley! It\’s been a pleasure!
